Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve
In 2015, I had the privilege of visiting Dorado Beach, one of the exquisite Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties. During my stay, I had an unforgettable experience photographing the legendary Anthony Bourdain, which has stayed with me ever since. So when I was offered the opportunity to explore Zadún, the newest Ritz-Carlton Reserve property in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, I was thrilled. Having already experienced the exceptional hospitality and luxury of a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, my expectations were high. However, Zadún surpassed all my expectations and left an indelible mark on my mind.
As soon as we arrived at Zadún, we were struck by the resort's natural beauty. The property is situated between the desert and the Sea of Cortez, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The design of the resort blends seamlessly with the environment, and the use of natural stone and wood materials in many of the buildings creates a feeling of harmony with nature. We loved lounging by one of the resort's swimming pools and taking strolls through the property's impeccable landscaping.
Our room at Zadún was spacious and beautifully appointed, with a private pool that offered stunning sunset views. The decor was a fusion of modern and traditional Mexican design, with intricate tile work and colorful textiles that added a touch of local charm.
Zadún offers a range of exceptional dining options, including El Barrio, the resort's signature restaurant, which serves delicious Mexican cuisine made with locally sourced ingredients. The menu changes seasonally, ensuring that each dish is as fresh and flavorful as possible. Equis had incredibly fresh seafood. We also enjoyed a more relaxed dining experience at Humo, which offered a variety of grilled meats and seafood, as well as a range of cocktails and wine.

We were in dire need of relaxation, and Spa Alkemia was the perfect oasis to unwind. The spa offers a wide range of treatments, and we indulged in a hot stone massage and followed it up with a soothing soak in the hydrotherapy pools. The attentive staff and serene atmosphere made for an incredibly luxurious and peaceful experience.
One of the highlights of our spa experience was the Savasana Soundroom, where we enjoyed a 30-minute sound healing session. This unique experience is designed to help quiet the mind and promote relaxation by allowing you to tune into the sounds and sensations within your body, heart, soul, and spirit. It was truly a one-of-a-kind experience that left us feeling refreshed and renewed.

We had the opportunity to participate in an exclusive mixology class featuring the award-winning Licorería Limantour, known for their innovative and creative cocktails and ranked #4 on The World's 50 Best Bars 2022. The masterclass, led by guest master mixologists Yayo Nava and Pamela López, was such an experience!
As the sun set, we eagerly anticipated the evening's main event: Limantour's Take Over at Candil. It was a chance to experience innovative and expertly crafted cocktails right here at Zadun. The drinks delighted our taste buds with vibrant and perfectly balanced cocktails that were a true feast for the senses. I was especially excited to finally experience the famed "The Mr. Pink" cocktail that Limantour is known for. From the unique flavors and textures to the enticing aromas, every sip was a memorable experience that we wouldn't soon forget.
Above all, what sets Zadún apart is its commitment to providing guests with an unforgettable experience. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure that every need is met, and the attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the resort. It's the perfect destination to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse yourself in the natural beauty and tranquility of San Jose del Cabo.
